HSBeaver1stThe second Kids Fishing and Education high school tournament was held on Sunday, April 26, 2015 on Beaver Lake near Fayetteville, AR. $2,500 in scholarship money and a Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motor were up for grabs as many young fishermen and women, which included the first all female team of Brooke Larkin and Sherra Irvin from Farmington High, took the waters on a chilly Sunday morning.

Harrison "Hootie" Hurley won the event with a weight of 9.18 pounds and won a $1,000 scholarship. Hootie fished in the Rockport Rattler boat with his boating captain, Jason Westerberg. Hootie attends Fayetteville High School when not fishing.HSBeaver2nd

Zachary Parisi, also representing Fayetteville High School, finished in second place and received a $500 scholarship. Zachary had Big Fish of the tournament weighing in a 1.61-pound crappie, which earned him a Minn Kota Fortrex trolling motor. Local Crappie Masters fishermen Kent Keith was Zachary’s boating captain.

Zachary Cain, from Lead Hill High School, secured third place with a weight of 5.41 pounds. His boating captain, Todd Stange is a local Crappie Masters fisherman.

Hunter Murphy was the highest placing team fishing in a G3 boat, which secured him the G3 Boat bonus scholarship of $1,000. Hunter’s father, Willard Murphy, was Hunter’s boat captain.HSBeaverG3
