The third and final High School Tournament of the season took place on Truman Lake, Sunday, August 23. Twenty-four teams competed for more than $4,000.00 in scholarships and other prizes. With cold fronts passing through all week, falling water temps, and rising lake levels fishing was tough.  However, some of these young fishermen and women were able to find fish and bring some impressive weights to the scale.

First place went to the team of Reagan Hockett and Nicholas Cashman. They caught seven fish for a weight of 6.83 pounds. They received a $1500.00 scholarship from Bug Band.

Second place was Hunter Bowling and Ben Bellamy with 6.07 pounds earning them a scholarship of $1,000.00 provided by G3 Boats.

Third place, with a weight of 6.01 pounds, was the team of Austin Campbell and Blake Moreland, which earned them a check for $500.00 from the Lake Lotawana Optimist Club.

Big Fish of the tournament weighed 1.48 pounds and was weighed in by Graham Bellamy and Ely Lam. That big fish earned them a brand new Talon Shallow Water Anchor.

Leah Faulkenberry weighed in a 7 fish limit weighing 3.73 pounds securing the top spot of any team fishing from a G3 Boat. This earned her a scholarship worth $1,000.00.

Special thanks to the parents of all the students as well as all the boating captains that generously gave their time and equipment to allow these students to compete.
